OIS coordinates a variety of workshops throughout the year for international students, scholars, campus partners and more. Space is limited, so do register in advance through Reporter. If you register but can no longer attend, please cancel your registration to make space available for others. Our Spring 2020 schedule is as follows:

OIS is partnering with the units of NC State Global to offer an evening of professional development for students to work on framing their international experience as a competitive advantage in the job search process. OPT Basics
Friday, February 28th I 3:00pm – 4:30pm I Talley 3222
This session is designed to provide current students with basic information on Optional Practical Training (OPT). We will discuss background information on OPT, how to prepare to apply for OPT, and when to start the application process. This session is not meant for students who have already applied for OPT, or are about to submit their OPT application. The topics covered in this session are also covered in the online OPT session students participate in as part of the OIS OPT application process.
OPT to H-1B
Wednesday, March 4th I 12:00pm – 1:30pm I Talley 4280
OIS is partnering with the International Employment Office to host this workshop for students interested in learning more about transitioning to a H-1B visa. Covered topics will include a brief review OPT and the OPT STEM Extension, along with some common Q&A about OPT, and an overview of the H-1B visa, including eligibility requirements, application process, and the transition from OPT to H-1B
