OIS Workshops Spring 2021

OIS coordinates a variety of workshops throughout the year for international students, scholars, campus partners and more.  Please register in advance to get the Zoom link for the live session.

This information session covers the essential information about applying for OPT for an F-1 student graduating in the Spring 2021 semester. Topics discussed include OPT eligibility, deadlines and timelines, and the various forms required in the OPT process.

OIS has partnered with Sprintax to provide tax filing services to our international students and scholars. Sprintax will host a series of free webinars to provide helpful information on nonresident tax filing obligations. Each webinar will cover:

  • An overview of tax filing obligations for nonresident students and scholars
  • Who must file a 2020 U.S. tax return
  • What year-end income forms students/scholars may expect to receive
  • Federal forms that need to be completed and sent to the IRS
  • State tax returns

OIS is partnering with the International Employment Office to host this workshop for students interested in learning more about  transitioning to a H-1B visa. Covered topics will include a brief review OPT and the OPT STEM Extension, along with some common Q&A about OPT, and an overview of the H-1B visa, including eligibility requirements, application process, and the transition from OPT to H-1B
