Olakunle Emmanuel Sodiya, Master Degree in Forestry and Environmental Resources

Tell us about yourself.

Olakunle is was born and raised in Nigerian where he bagged his first degree in Forestry and Wildlife Management. He then proceed to West Virginia University where He studied Resource Economics and Management and later moved to NC State where He bagged a Master’s degree in Forestry with a focus in economics and spatial analysis.

How was your experience at NC State University?

I enjoyed every moment of being a graduate student at NC State including the good and the most challenging days. I met great people, made new friends, found mentors, and increased my network of relationships professionally and socially.

What would you say is your biggest accomplishment during your time at NC State?

Being able to finish up my MS program in 1 year and 3 months.

What are your plans post graduation?

Get a job where I would be using my skills to solve environmental-related problems.

Do you have any advice for current or incoming international students?

Make friends that would motivate you to never give up, network, acknowledge your strength and weakness and get help wherever necessary, get acquainted with the resources and opportunities available to you on campus, and most importantly get a hobby.
