About Meichun

Meichun Liu is a product designer, design educator, and researcher. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design from NCKU and her Master’s Degree in Design from the University of Alberta.

She has worked as a product designer for sixteen years and served as a design professor for six years. At Asia University, Taiwan, she served in the positions of Associate Professor and Department Chair of Creative Product Design Department.

In 2010, she founded her design company “Wolkeland Design.” Her areas of expertise include product design, interaction design, and behavior design. Her current research focuses on the systemic design framework of adaptive design in a complex system.

How was your experience at NC State?

The PhD in Design program is rigorous and rewarding, in which the professors are eager to help the students grow. They care about students and are passionate about establishing a rich learning environment.

What are your plans post graduation?

I will be working as a tenure-track assistant professor at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA.

What would you say is your biggest accomplishment from your time at NC State?

Completing my dissertation.

Do you have any advice for current or incoming students?

Utilize resources on NC State’s campus, including the fitness wall at Carmichael Gym.
