If your OPT is already approved and active (meaning that you have been issued an employment authorization document (EAD) card and the start date of your EAD has passed), you should have received an email from SEVP with instructions on creating a portal account. This email should have come from do-not-reply.sevp@ice.dhs.gov to your email address checked as “Preferred” email in your MyPack account. Please also check your spam/junk mail folder to ensure you didn't miss the email.

Please follow instructions in the email from SEVP to create a portal account. Once you have a portal account, please update your employment information in the SEVP Portal. All updates will be automatically transferred to SEVIS.

If the link contained in the email from SEVP has expired, please submit the SEVP Portal Unlock Request Form and one of our advisors will request SEVP to send you another email with a new link.

SEVP will send you an email with instructions on creating a portal account within about 1-2 days from the start date of your employment authorization document (EAD) card. The email will come from do-not-reply.sevp@ice.dhs.gov to the email checked as your preferred email in MyPack.

If you do not receive the SEVP email within 2 days from the start date of your EAD, please send an email to OIS at ois@ncsu.edu with the subject line “SEVP Portal Email Not Received” attaching a copy of your EAD and one of our advisors will follow up with you.

It may take 1 or 2 days for the SEVP Portal to get the update from SEVIS.

You are not authorized to start employment until you have your employment authorization document (EAD) card in hand and the start date of your EAD has arrived. You will need to wait for your EAD before you can create an SEVP Portal account and report your employment

Please follow the procedures for changing employers listed on our STEM OPT webpage (under "STEM Extension Reporting Requirements").

Please send an email to OIS at ois@ncsu.edu with the subject line "End of STEM OPT Employment." In the email, please specify the name of the employer and the end date of your employment.

REMEMBER: As per STEM OPT regulations, you are required to submit a final evaluation (page 5 of Form I-983) at the end of each employment within 10 days from the end of employment. For details, please visit our STEM OPT webpage (under "STEM Extension Reporting Requirements").

Please complete an updated Form I-983 (pages 1-4) in the event of any of the following changes:

Change of employer name and/or Employer Identification Number (EIN)
Reduction in your compensation
Decrease in your work hours per week
Changes in your job responsibilities

Please submit your updated I-983 via our STEM OPT Upload Center
